The Sidemen valley is one of Bali’s last paradise, a « Shangrila”, a secluded haven for the world-weary which must be preserved and ensured with a sustainable development of tourism in a responsible way.

While working closely with the inhabitants and the elected local officials, our goal is to bring a responsible and sustainable development of tourism to the area by creating and providing eco-friendly accommodation to travelers with modern comfort that respect the environment and bring awareness to the local population on how to protect their natural environment.

A myth that we can make into reality. 

We take part in the development of the village by respecting employment policy within Sidemen and its neighbouring villages. And for the long term, we aim to provide education to children of families with no means.

Our wish is to preserve the environment by using no air-conditioning (you will not need it due to the cool climate of high altitude), no television (the natural landscape and the view is awesome and spectacular).

The hotel is built within the rice terraces on the slopes of Mount Agung, the holiest and majestic volcano in Bali.

It overlooks the valley with a breathtaking view.

It is first and foremost a place for peace and introspection... an ideal place for a spiritual journey.

Ketut, Ayu and their children are the family who inspires this place. They are the  heart of Surya Shanti.

Together with Ketut’s family, the gracious Balinese staff of 15 persons, proud of their origins in the neighboring villages, are attentive and dedicated to your every need.

GUESTROOMS / VILLAS : 

• 2 double rooms in every villa (with independent entries):  each room has a sofa which allows an additional bed for child or adult

• 2 villa mezzanines : each villa consists of one bedroom and sofa bed for child or adult on the ground floor and a double bed on the higher mezzanine floor
  
  
• A large villa of 3 bedrooms with double bed (completely independent) with a living room, dining room, space for fitness and yoga, and a 12 m long swimming pool. The bedrooms in the villa can be rented separately with common spaces and the swimming pool being accessible to all. Or the entire villa may be rented exclusively.

• Restaurant with a terrace : possibility to dine in the dining room of the large villa or in a « bale » in the garden

• Our chef will be glad to whip up gastronomic delights from traditional Balinese cuisine with the flavors of the world “fusion” combination. The menu of the dinner “table d’hôtes ” varies according to the season and availability of fresh produce in the market

• You can learn Balinese cuisine with Ayu and our chef in our traditional kitchen in front of Mt Agung.

• We serve organic vegetables and fruits from our garden Due to the Hindu tradition, it is not allowed to serve beef in the regions of Sidemen.
